The battles at Standing Rock and the Line 5 initiatives on the border of Canada and the United States have largely been forgotten or overlooked. However, we must not forget the support and understanding from abroad for Native American causes, such as the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) movement, which has seen some progress over the past 4-5 years. In 2017, over 5,600 Native American women and girls were reported missing or murdered, but this issue was overshadowed by racial tensions between black and white Americans. "Savannah's Act" was signed into law, marking a positive step forward. Native American issues have been marginalized for centuries, but despite this, they have managed to persevere without much recognition. It's important to express gratitude to our Native American cousins, acknowledging the disadvantageous conditions many face on reservations. These conditions are often worse than those in urban or rural areas. The plight of Canadian First Nations also demands attention, and I hope to see similar progress and recognition for Native American communities in the United States. Pray for us!
